"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by each experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along."
- Eleanor Roosevelt
Just when things start to look good, life throws out another curve ball.
My dad collapsed this past weekend, and was admitted into the hospital again for observation. Originally thought to have been contributed to his low blood cell count (an effect of the chemo on his immune system), an MRI showed 2 spots on his brain that doctors have not yet identified. Our hopes are that they are NOT metasticized cancer cells which have migrated to his brain, but preliminary test are inconclusive. While these findings are disappointing to hear, the optimism in the situation is that the spots are the size of a pen tip, and are treatable with more targeted chemo and direct radiation to his head. I have faith in my dad's strength and courage... and he will get through this with our continued prayers.
I am traveling to Florida to assist in any appointments or further developements, and will be out of touch for a short while. There is nothing as important in life as family... all else will wait.
Please keep my Papi in your prayers... it is with the prayers of all to date that he has come this far, and with the continued prayers of our friends will he pull through this as well.
