Checking in...
I've been in Orlando since last Wednesday to be with my family and help my dad with appointments and anything else they needed. Unfortunately, the doctors did determine that there are four tumors in my dad's head, and they are metasticized lymphoma cells. He will begin an intensive radiation treatment on Monday that will last 22 days straight. They are hoping that will erradicate this last trace of the disease, and return my Papi his driving priveledges that he misses terribly.
This is the first time I've been back down since February, prior to his chemo starting. I was a bit worried, I hadn't seen him, and was apprehensive about what I would see upon my arrival. Its difficult to digest him being sick in the first place, and I was worried I'd find him more fragile condition than what was expressed to me on my phone calls. (Somehow, they love to still think they are protecting me by sugarcoating things at times...) But what a great treat to find that Papi is looking very strong and up in spirits, something that I am SO happy to report. Despite everything, he is up and moving around when he can, and is still my independent, smart, loving Papi.... much better from when he was weak and in pain during my trip this February. In fact, my overprotective mom is driving him crazy... (now he knows what its like on the OTHER side of that Ft. Knox-like fence they had me in when I was growing up, haha!)
More to come soon, too much driving and I'm exhausted!
Thanks for checking in on me!!! Keep Papi in your prayers!
