Gimme a break!

It didn't take long for someone to try and deflat Danica's accolades from this past weekend.

Now, Robbie Gordon and others are blaiming Danica's success on the fact that she has a weight advantage over other heavy set drivers. (Gordon weighs in at a hefty 210 lbs.) Gordon has gone on record to state that until the IRL changes rules to regulate the weight differences between the drivers, he will boycott competing. No one pays any attention to the fact that the winning male driver weighed in at a slight 156 lbs.

First of all, God forbid these sexist egotist like Gordon actually contribute her success to some damn good driving.

And secondly, someone please tell Mr. Gordon that DIETING and eating HEALTHY will go a long way beyond complaining and picking on the obviously talented rookie.

Ever hear of SLIM FAST and a TREADMILL, Gordon?

Danica is from my hometown of Roscoe, IL.
Racing is a spectator sport in my family and we so wanted her to win, not only because her parents owned a coffee shop less than five minutes from my house but because she's awesome. Being a woman in "man's" sport. Way to go Danica you'll get 'em next year.

Ditto on the "Gimme a break!" This is just a reason for Robbie Gordon to gripe! I think her wreck was a sabotage to keep her from winning the race! But don't worry guys, she'll be back again to kick your butts for sure next time! Don't chalk her position up to her weight! That girl can drive! Period.....end of story! Robbie Gordon is just ticked because he doesn't want to race with a girl :) Look out Mr. Gordon, you must not have heard yet, but "Girl's can too" Way to go Danica! Look out guys, more girls to come!

I could not agree more...you are so right about this being sour grapes...if it were just weight why don't we go out and get jockeys from the horse race tracks? Danica had real skill and she was the only reason I watched the Indy 500.

Oops...that anonymous comment was mine. Sorry! Bill

Interesting.. I'm not very tall (5'2). My Dad had formed my driving carrer to eventually race at Indy. My weight at 18 was 120 lbs. Like life .. I got side tracked.. but there are more heavy drivers back then for sure. Being short has some advantages but seeing over a large cowl hood of a Mustang is not one of them.. Lol. I'll still have an advantage to this day. It isn't Indy but the Summit series..

Les,

It may be a slight advantage, but why try and downplay her driving talent? In addition, name one other sport that men DON'T have a distinct natural advantage over women? I think they really picked on Danica this time, which is sad. If weight was such an issue, I'm sure that there was a slight male before she came out, why not protest them?

Well Erica,
The point I was making was.. it doesen't matter on weight, and I guess size as I got picked on all the time in school. It is the ability of the driver behind the wheel. Ya ever heard the sayings "White men can't Jump"

Well... If I missed someting PM me over at Hardcore.. I'd like to understand

Just like Angelle in PSB its because she is light is why the bike is so fast not because she can drive haha...give me a break.
