PRI Show

Well, its that time of year again...

The Performance Race Industry trade show (or PRI for short) is held the first week of December every year, and is where all the racing industry gathers to communicate with manufacturers, race sanctions, and other race vendors to learn about new products, and to discuss business and/or sponsorship deals for the 2006 season. Its a chance for racers to get out and network with new vendors, and to sit down and talk with those they already deal with. Open only to those involved in the racing industry, the event is normally held in chilly Indianapolis. This is the 1st year the event will be held in my hometown of Orlando, so I'm excited to get an additional chance to spend time with my family as well.

Those whom have been before will understand how draining the show can be. Miles and miles of walking, talking, moving and shuffling from booth to booth, running circles trying to see all the people and new products in a 3 day span. Talk about exhausting... and my poor feet have learned many a lesson, so I will be bringing along only the most comfortable shoe attire... to hell with the heels for this event!

Dan just completed John Gullett's new Parker Chassis built Pro Mod/ Pro 5.0 Escort, which will be unveiled on Thursday in the Probe Booth (Booth # 1395). Visual FX burned the midnight oil to get the car painted and completed in time to get there, everyone is looking forward to seeing the display. Dan, the crew and I will be heading down early Thursday morning and have a full schedule of meetings lasting through Saturday night. Here's hoping for much success and new relationships built! Wish me luck, and hopefully I'll have good news to report upon my return!

To those attending... please stop and check out the great companies that support Horsepower & Heels Racing!

Happy Thanksgiving!

During this reflective time of year, I'd like to take a moment and give thanks for the many blessings in my life. I'm grateful for all the wonderful people whom believe in me and help me, I'm thankful for my family's health and the prayer that Papi gets better soon, and I'm thankful for having a great many people out there who read and follow me through my journeys. Your support keeps me going when it seems nothing can go right. Here's to hoping that you and yours have a joyus and safe holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving from the entire Horsepower & Heels Crew!

Found a Peanut...

Remember that peanut song you sung as a kid? You know, the one that goes on-and-on adnauseum? Well, so did my fellow Volleyball teammates in high school... enough so, I earned the nickname "peanut" for the rest of that season from my loud vocal rendition all the way home from our victorious game against New Symrna Beach (a good 90 minute ride on the old cheese wagon).

So maybe it was Cosmic Kharma come back to haunt me this weekend...

You see, after living in the deep south for the past 2 years, I've started assymilating to local culture a bit. My sisters make fun of my newly acquired redneck vocabulary, things like "fixin' to" and "ya'll". I eat breakfast every morning at a fine little country kitchen called Fat Freddie's, where they know my order before I walk up to the counter and they ask why I'm late if I overslept. And the latest sign that I might be turning into a redneck: my obsession with the Smitty's boiled peanut stand. $5 for a slap-full 5 gallon freezer bag of steamin' hot peanuts, served up from what looks like a WWII cauldron and old tin ladle. Well, while at the track on Saturday, the guys and I (and I swear they helped) downed the bag of Smitty's as well as 2 more Big Gulp styrofoam cups full of Generic Brand X Hot (jalepeno) peanuts from a track vendor (there is no rival to Smitty's). Well, I don't know if it was the spicy peanuts, or as Josh said, the fact that I ate "a 5 gallon bucket full" (which I emphatically deny), but I have never been sicker come Sunday morning. Peanut Kharma back to haunt me?

Well, this weekend I got to play around a little in Dan's Fulton N2O equipped 10.5 car... since I've never driven a true clutch car (as in the fast kind...) I drove it down the track easy to get a feel for it. Hopefully this weekend coming up if my computer/injectors are not back for my car, I'll make a few good hits in the 10.5 car.

Until next time...

Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a P-E-A-N-U-T just now...
